Born in Atlanta, Texas, on January 26, 1892, Bessie Coleman moved from Texas to Chicago in 1915. The pioneering pilot was the first black woman to fly an airplane and the first African American to earn an international pilot's license.

The event features the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., Chicago Chapter; the Fly Girls of Denver, Co.; and a performance of the play Black Girls (Can) Fly! A tribute to Bessie Coleman at Lincoln Cemetery follows this event.
