Songs for Ian by Soo Hyun Kim

Richard J. Daley Branch-Bridgeport hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit through the month of May, featuring artist Soo Hyun Kim.

From the artist’s statement: “The series of black and white photographs 'Songs for Ian' reveal an aching intimacy with the world around me. A bouquet of wilted roses stands enshrined in plastic on an unmade bed; a strange light illuminates the bark of a tree. Echoing each other through their mysterious beauty, the two photographs create a scene of the uncanny between day and night, interior and exterior, natural and artificial, moonlight and streetlight.”
