Hugo's been visiting Lozano YOUmedia since it opened and his participation has been nonstop. Hear what he likes to do while there.
Q: What’s your favorite program at the library? What do you like about it?
A: My favorite program is YOUmedia since I loved the experience when I first enrolled four years ago. I like that the program has technology for students to express their creative prowess. Students can experiment with art, music and video recording. I like how students can socialize with others working together to create something unbelievable. When I go to the program, I know that I will always have fun. I live in the same community where the program is and I get to meet great people who mentor my whole life to turn me into who I am today.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Reading books and playing with music in digital format or playing the guitar. I also like to experiment with art on the computer, build complex Lego sets, watch Star Wars and engage in meaningful conversations.
Q: What’s your favorite book, author and/or genre?
A: My favorite author is James Patterson and my favorite genre is science fiction. I love how in science fiction there are creative ways to build a universe. There are conflicts in every universe and the main characters have to survive and figure out what is happening to the world.
Q: How has the library been a part of your life? What do you like to do there?
A: The library has been part of my life since the program first opened. My sisters are lined up to join the program as soon as they age into it. When I was in elementary school, I used to attend YOUmedia almost every day. My new high school schedule has kept me busy and I only get to attend on Saturdays. I have always participated in workshops and earned top scores. I am now the leader in the teen committee and have the flexibility to design a program in ways that reflect my interests and the interests of my peers. The mentors are not just my teachers, but are my friends and family.
