The Color of Jazz, an African American History Month art exhibit by Patrick Thompson, is on display in February at Harold Washington Library Center, in the exhibit hall gallery on the 3rd floor.
Thompson's artwork is influenced by everyday sights and sounds, including colors, fashion and music, particularly jazz. He says, "My love for creating abstract images is comparable to jazz artists creating their respective music by playing off scale."
In this exhibition of vibrant abstract oils, Thompson successfully blends a perfect mix of modern jazz and modern art that makes the viewer "feel the music" in his paintings.
